Casual And Formal Tone

What is Casual And Formal Tone?

Using a casual tone in your cold outreach strategy is not recommended. Since you are pitching to a stranger, you want to present yourself as someone professional rather than an amateur. There might be some instances of using informal language once you establish a relationship with your prospects, but formal is the go-to tone in cold outreach.

To make your emails look more formal, you should avoid the following:

  • Colloquial words and slang: “wanna” (want to); y’all (you all)
  • Shortened word forms: shouldn’t; couldn’t; didn’t
  • Abbreviations: ASAP; lol; brb

Appropriate greetings, introductions, laconic language, and a professional signature are also some of the necessary formal tone elements.
