Click-Through Rate (CTR)

What is Click-Through Rate (CTR)?

Click-through rate is also known as email click rate. The metric measures how many recipients click a hyperlink in an email or respond to a call-to-action. One can measure email click-through rate by:

  1. Taking the number of people who responded to the email positively
  2. Dividing the positive number of recipients of delivered emails
  3. Multiply the result by 100 to get a percentage

On average, the email click-through rate ranges from 1 to 5 percent. So, if you have a CTR of 3% or higher, you can consider your outreach campaign quite successful.

Marketers track CTR to measure engagement. Email click-through rate shows how good or bad link placement, call-to-action, media types, and email body are.

When measuring email click-through rate, it is important to differentiate between sent and delivered emails. If you notice that your CTR is poor, make sure that your emails reach intended recipients.
