A sense of urgency, also known as the fear of missing out, is a marketing technique used to incentivize customers to act quickly, so they do not miss a great offer.

When it comes to email marketing specifically, you still need a potential lead to receive and open an email. Therefore, creating a sense of urgency should start with the subject line and preheader.

The goal is to present recipients with a catch that gets them hooked. And when they open an email, they should see a copy that includes a deadline, offers a scarce product, or solves an unpleasant problem.
